[ Why this exists ]

Men rarely have anywhere to talk about this. So this isn't me talking at you. It's a place where we talk to each other.

[ Who it's for ]

If any of this sounds familiar, you're in the right place.

  • Just moved out, or just been asked to.
  • Sleeping badly. Eating worse.
  • Seeing your kids half the week, or less.
  • Friends have gone quiet. So have you.
  • Fine at work. Not fine at 2am.
  • Years on, still not sure who you are now.

Separated, divorcing, or divorced years ago. Whatever stage you're at, you're welcome here.

Join the Sunday check in

The host sitting forward in his armchair, listening

This is the heart of the group. Every Sunday there's a thread pinned under the newest video, and men check in with each other. It's simple, and it's the most important thing we do. I'll be in there too.

  1. Say how your week went

One honest line is enough. No names, no full story needed.

  2. Reply to one other man

You don't have to fix anything. Just let him know he's been heard.

  3. Come back next Sunday

A standing plan beats good intentions. Same day, same place.

[ House rules ]

How we look after each other.

Six things that keep the Sunday thread a place men want to come back to.

  1. No names

Not yours, not your ex's, not your kids'. Keep it anonymous so everyone can be honest.

  2. Talk about you, not your ex

This is for getting through it, not for keeping score. No blame, no judgement.

  3. Listen first

Most men don't need fixing. They need to know they've been heard.

  4. Share what worked, then leave it there

Advice is your experience, not an instruction. Every situation is different.

  5. Look out for each other

If someone sounds like they're in danger, point them to findahelpline.com or their local emergency number.

  6. This isn't therapy

It's men supporting men. For legal, medical or money questions, talk to a professional.

[ The letter ]

A short letter, every Sunday morning.

What I'm learning, what's helping other men in the Sunday thread, and the research worth knowing. Short enough to read with your coffee.

FAQ /

Questions men ask before they join in.

01What is Half The House?
A free, anonymous support group for men going through separation and divorce. Every Sunday we check in with each other in a thread under the newest video. In between there are videos about each stage and a short weekly letter.
02Does it cost anything?
No. It's free, and always will be. To post in the Sunday thread you need a YouTube account, which can be under any name you like.
03Is it anonymous?
As anonymous as you want it to be. Use any name, and don't share real names or details that could identify you, your ex or your kids. Reading along without posting is fine too.
04Do I have to share my story?
No. One honest line about your week is enough. No names, no full story needed.
05Is this therapy?
No. It's men supporting men, plus one man sharing what he's learning and what the research says. It's general information, not medical, legal or financial advice. If you need support, talk to your GP or doctor, a counsellor, or find a free helpline at findahelpline.com.
06Who runs it?
A man who is separated and working through the same things he makes videos about. The narration voice and illustrations in the videos are made with AI tools. The story, scripts and research are his.
07I'm separated, not divorced. Is this for me?
Yes. Separated, divorcing, divorced years ago: if a marriage or long relationship ended and you're finding your feet, you're welcome here.

If you're struggling, you don't have to carry this on your own. Free, confidential support lines in your country. If you're in danger right now, call your local emergency number.
